User reviews
No issues with my copy. Fairly quiet; no problems with side C. I also have the 2016 XL pressing, and while that version might have a slightly more dynamic sound field, this one is by no means the disaster it seemed to be for others. A more-than-acceptable pressing.
So, so close to getting it in 45rpm... why this?
This is an awful pressing. Mine sounds bland and lifeless, there's just no punch in songs like "Optimistic." What a shame, it's one of my favorite albums.
Stickers swapped on 2nd disc. Sticker for side C is on side D and vice-versa. A Manufacturers Error.
Bought this capital reissue and had the same noise on side 3 with optimistic. these capital reissues are total digital masters likely from the cd. don't waste your money on the reissues because its a total crapshoot if you will get a listenable copy or not. on ok computer, kid a, and amnesiac i played a song off the reissue first then immediately played the original vinyl. make no mistake, original is the way to go.
Where is this pressing sourced from? Is it of the exact same quality of the original pressings or is there something inferior about this pressing's quality? (common defects like side C's notwithstanding)
Mine sounds fine, no issues on side C as some have posted here. Nice, clean copy with no distortion, very warm sounding. Sorry to hear others have had problems, I must have got lucky.
my copy sounds fine as well. was given to me as a christmas gift and i'm honestly shocked at the amounts of past complaints about this pressing. there must have been some bad batches in the past because my copy sounds great.
i do not rember if the noise was on side three, but i can say this is not the most silent and mild vinyl ever heard during last years. surface noise is a little constant between the silent passages. worthless for the price and the what is written on the label.
Yup the noise is there on side 3. Too bad... Its not that noticeable once the song starts. But still.. Pretty disappointing. It's a soft and continuous hiss in the left channel
Record is nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be
I think I've finally come to the conclusion that it's a toss-up with this reissue. The copy I purchased years ago had the surface noise that lasted the entire length of side 3. Just today (2/11/15) I found a used copy in a local record store and out of curiosity threw it on at the sampling station. Sure enough, no noise anywhere to be heard on side 3 or any sides for that matter. I purchased immediately. Good luck.
I think the record itself is perfectly fine sonically, but Capital Reissues seem to be iffy in terms of the physical quality. For instance I have OK Computer which sounds great and has little to no noise, while others say it sounds fine, but is extremely noisy. Then I have Pet Sounds and it sounds good and is dead quiet, but others say it sounds terrible and is extremely noisy.I guess it's just a mix of personal taste and sometimes you can come across faulty pressings which seems to be common with these Capitol Reissues.
No. I have nothing to complain about. Sounds great. I can't hear any noise on the side 3 or any other sides either.
This pressing does not exist? Capitol never made these before 2008. They were all imports via Parlophone.
I recently picked up a new copy of Kid A By Radiohead and noticed a lot of noise on side 3, mostly in the left channel. The noise is most apparent between the tracks Optimistic and In Limbo but continues on throughout most of In Limbo. It sounds almost exactly like a dirty record so I made several attempts to clean the vinyl but the noise persists, leading me to believe it was perhaps in the pressing. Sure enough, I purchased a second copy of Kid A and the exact noise persists. Considering this is being touted as a High Quality 180 Gram Capitol Records Limited Edition Repressing one would expect better quality no? Anyone else experiencing this issue?
I too noticed this on my copy. It especially irked me during Treefingers.
I'm hearing the same type of noise on my copy, but only on side 1. The other three sides are actually fairly quiet. It's very disapppointing to have this issue given what these Capitol reissues cost.
Similar sound on mine, but only for the ending bit of National Anthem, so it almost kinda works (?). Had a similar problem with Amnesiac (2x10" Reissue), returned for a new copy and it was fine. I don't have much faith in these Capitol reissue's.
yup.. capital reissue has the noise.. also at the beginning of side c leading into optimistic there is a reoccurring noise.. 2001 EU press sounds great, no issues.
I don't hear it in Optimistic, but there is some definite distortion on In Limbo. Not sure if it's intention or not. But it is quite annoying.
Really wish I had read your comments before purchasing this pressing because it's definitely noticeable.Edit: The five star rating is for the album in general, not this specific pressing.
Same exact issue here.
Can't remember, I remember That at one point I had 3 copies and they all were noisy beyond acceptable level...
Indeed, I recently found the original vinyl pressing of KID A from Parlophone (Catalog # LPKIDA 1) here on Discogs and it sounds fantastic. No issues on Side C whatsoever. http://www.discogs.com/Radiohead-Kid-A/release/74743Where are you hearing the problems on OK Computer?
Yep same here! Really disappointed, Capitol Dropped the ball of Radiohead, Same thing with OK Computer! It's a shame!
