showtime
“When I listened to the band’s ‘Symmetriez’ EP title jam for the first time, I was warmly greeted by guitar and drums completely in the buff, followed by the introduction of Evans’ unfiltered vocals. In the age of autotune and glossy production overly-synthetic in nature, it was insanely pleasant to listen to this EP from start to finish. The EP courses through its four songs easily, indicating that the production wasn’t thrown together and that easygoing transitions were a priority guiding the whole process for the band. The best way I know how to describe Daggerz’ sound is simple but catchy two-piece collaboration with a whole lot of heart. I can only guess that the LP release will merit local acclaim and satisfy a thirst for refreshing genuine punk rock indigenous to Gainesville”.

Excerpt from The Gainesville Sun, The Scene By Scott Kauffmann

Let’s take a good look at some rock ‘n’ roll bands: The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Pixies, etc., those were some of the heavy hitters. They also had an average of four to five members to fill up all that space and rock very hard. But, there are some bands, in more contemporary times, that can do it with fewer, such as The Black Keys or The White Stripes. Even they have succumbed, however, to adding additional players and instruments for live and recorded performances.

Not Daggerz. This is a local two-piece, post-hardcore unit whose heart is deeply imbedded with good old rock ‘n’ roll. It doesn’t take much to realize singer/guitarist Caesar Evans knows a thing or two about writing heartfelt, interesting music, nor does it take a trained musician to know that Ashley Wilkinson can play better drums than you or your dad.

Their new four-song EP, “Symmetries,” is a breath of fresh air in the overpopulated realm of hard rock music. “It Doesn’t Matter, Yo!” is reminiscent of Fugazi and Bear Vs. Shark, (both awesome bands, if you haven’t heard them), but it doesn’t exactly sound like anything either one of those bands would do. They’re doing a haggard genre that’s been beaten slightly to death but comes out clean and new on the other side.
